Important Information

Warranty

Misty Mountain makes the highest quality climbing gear available. We guarantee our products against defects in workmanship or materials for the maximum lifespan of the harness.

Misty Mountain PPE and load rated textiles, including harnesses, tethers/lanyards, and modular sit-kits have a maximum life of obsolescence of 5 years of use, or 10 years from date of manufacture, whichever comes first.

We will repair or replace any products we deem defective. Normal wear and tear are to be expected and are not reason for return.

If you have a question about if your harness has normal wear and tear or if it is defective or worn out, please send pictures to us at customerservice@mistymountain.com.

Misty Mountain harnesses are intended for climbing, mountaineering and high-angle activities only. Any other use is prohibited and voids all guarantees.

Thank you for choosing Misty Mountain!

Return & Exchanges

Misty Mountain Return Policy

At Misty Mountain, your safety is our highest priority. Because our harnesses are life-supporting equipment, we maintain strict quality control standards and do not restock or resell any returned harnesses. Every harness you receive from us is brand new and unused.

This policy reflects our commitment to product integrity and your well-being. While it may be more conservative than some other brands, we believe this level of caution is the only responsible approach for a product with minimal redundancy.

Return Policy Details

We understand that incorrect sizing—or simply not liking the fit—can happen. In those cases, we allow customers to return harnesses under the following conditions:

  • Return Window: 30 days from the date of delivery

  • Refund Amount: 50% of the original purchase price

  • Shipping: Customers are responsible for return shipping costs

To initiate a return, please email customerservice@mistymountain.com and include your order number and reason for return. Returns should be shipped to:
Misty Mountain
320 Burma Rd
Banner Elk, NC 28604

Once we receive the returned harness, we will process a 50% refund to your original payment method. Please allow a few business days for the refund to appear in your account.

Why We Handle Returns This Way

Because we cannot resell used or returned harnesses, every returned harness is destroyed upon receipt. We do this to ensure that no used harness ever enters our inventory or reaches another customer, preserving our safety standards and your trust. Even if the harness is seemingly unused, we cannot verify what happens to a harness after it leaves our control.

This policy is a compromise. While we cannot offer full refunds like some larger brands with more resources, we believe it is important to meet our customers halfway. By splitting the cost, we’re showing our commitment to doing right by you—even when the solution isn’t perfect.

Thank you for choosing Misty Mountain, and for supporting a company that puts safety and integrity first.

Maximum Life of Obsolescence

Misty Mountain PPE and load rated textiles, including harnesses, tethers/lanyards, and modular sit-kits have a maximum life of obsolescence of five years of use, or ten years from date of manufacture, whichever comes first.

In order to remain in use, the harness must be free of the following:
• Any damage
• Nicks, cuts, or abrasions to webbing
• Loose or damaged stitching
• Burns
• Contamination, discoloration, excessive fading
• UV damage
• Corrosion of hardware

The life span of the textile may be shorter depending on how often the product is used as well as the conditions of use and storage. The actual useful life of a load rated textile may not be five years, if it is used heavily and frequently, stored incorrectly, or has held many hard falls. Any Misty Mountain harness or load rated textile, regardless of age, should be retired if it fails inspection for any reason, including but not limited to, the reasons listed above. Inspection should be completed by a trained individual who has demonstrated competency and knowledge in load rated textiles. Load rated textiles should be visually inspected prior to each use, and annually if kept in storage. Once a Misty Mountain product reaches five years of age, use may be extended if the harness or
tether receives a yearly inspection from a third party certifying the harness or tether for additional use, up to a maximum of ten years. Once a harness or load rated textile reaches ten years of age, it must be retired regardless of use.
