Easily the most comfortable harness I've ever owned. I've owned two of these over the years, with other, lighter harnesses as well for gym or sport days. I love this harness and how it feels when lowering or at belay. It's a great harness overall, and I recommend it, but...
The only thing I don't like is that the auto-adjust buckles are insanely difficult to get the harness tight. Now, I can get it tight enough for it to be comfortable around my waist, but my belly is bigger than my hips, and despite how tight I can get it around my mid-section, I can still, with some effort, pull the harness down over my hips (think: taking tied shoes off without untying them). To be clear, I wear 34 waist in jeans, so I bought the large, but I feel I could have gone down to a medium harness.
I have not yet worn this harness with gear on it. Part of the reason I got the extra belay loop is because I'm trying hard to rack everything on my harness (I use a double shoulder chest sling now, which is OK but not great). Not being able to tighten it such that it won't go over my hips is a concern once I get gear on that weighs it down. I'm not afraid of an upside-down fall and falling out of the harness. I guess it could happen, but it'd take some effort for that to happen. But I can fully see the weight of my rack constantly pulling the harness down on me, and that alone may force me to buy another harness.
A recommendation to Misty would be to have somewhat overlapping sizes. So, for example, a M would go 29-33 and a L would go 32-35.
I've owned this harness for a couple months now and have used it everywhere from sport climbing to multipitch trad. It's very comfortable, and I especially like the upward facing gear loops that make the gear seem much lighter on your waist. The leg straps are a little long for me, but I just have smaller legs and they're more of a personal annoyance. Overall comfortable to belay and hang on, and the quality is very good!
Good quality and American made harness. Couldn't be happier
I have been a proud supporter of Misty Mountain for over a decade. Didn't matter what I was climbing I was in my Misty. I just retired my last harness and decided to buy my girlfriend a harness too. But I have to say we are both extremely disappointed. Something has changed in the construction of the backband. She was keeping her mouth shut about how she thought it was uncomfortable because she knew how much I loved them. After several painful long days sitting in my new harness on the wall, I tried wearing my old harness again. The old one is comfortable, the new one is awful. After looking at the construction, the back band on my new harness is built differently. After reaching out to the company to try to figure out what was wrong, I was told I was crazy, that my loyalty meant nothing and that I wasted $400 bucks on two harnesses. Quite frankly, I'm just bummed. I used to recommend these harnesses to everyone. Now, going to do the opposite until they show me they have fixed the issue.
Bought the Cadillac and added an extra belay loop. It is extremely comfortable I often forget I’m wearing it even with gear on it. Haven’t take any big falls but lowering and belaying is leagues more comfortable than my old Corax. Plus the customer service is top tier!
